Dallas ARC Badge

The Dallas ARC is the second oldest active club in Texas and one of the oldest continually active Ham clubs in the world. It is also the largest club in Texas and one of the biggest in the USA. It is an Affiliated Club of the American Radio Relay League, beginning its affiliation in 1919.

The Club has had the call sign W5FC since 1924 beginning with 5FC. This is the flag ship call of Dallas 146.28/88 repeater along with sister repeaters on 223.28/224.88 and 442.425/725. All licensed amateurs are welcomed to use these repeaters when in the D/FW metroplex.

W5FC is the call used during our many public service events performed through out the year in Dallas county. The Dallas Amateur Radio Club rolls out its Emergency Communications Van several times each year to assist in community service activities such as the White Rock Marathon. This van is outfitted to perform in the event of disaster or emergency. It is capable of maintaining multiple stations of communication with amateur radio operators on all bands and the public service bands such as fire, police and aircraft.

The club maintains close ties with the Dallas Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) and their Skywarn Nets on the DARC's 88 machine is closely monitored by the public as Dallas' early warning system.

Being the largest club in the area also means being the busiest. As a general services club the local amateur radio community our activities vary from providing education and "elmering" new and prospective hams to operating contests. The club has continually held its popular Field Day activities in the White Rock Lake area of Dallas. Other activities include interesting presentations, assisting affiliated high school clubs, and the Boy & Girl Scouts.

The DARC's web site is updated nearly daily with news and items of local interest as well as items of interest and information to the ham radio community in general. The DARC newsletter, published monthly, is also available on this website. Messages can be left on the DARC's info line (214-691-2888) 24 hours per day. You are invited to visit the DARC's home page at www.w5fc.org.

The Dallas Amateur Radio Club continues to work for the benefit and betterment of Ham radio while serving the public when needed.
